  • Sporadic ALS: This type of ALS occurs randomly & found in 90-95 % cases. It contain no clear cause & do not create any risk factor.
  • Familial ALS: This type of ALS is inherited. 5-10 % of people are suffering from familial ALS.

Some causes of ALS includes:

  • Low immune system: When immune system attacks body’s own cells that kill nerve cells.
  • Imbalance of proteins: When proteins are not processed by nerve cells it causes nerve cells to die.
  • Imbalanced chemical in brain: Release of glutamate in high level creates toxins in nerve cells by causing ALS.
