Ocular type of GME is not common, and sudden onset of optic neuritis and thus blindness is the peculiar feature of Ocular meningoencephalitis. In focal and multifocal (disseminated) forms the lesions are spread throughout the central nervous system. Focal lesions are generally seen and are more common in the cerebrum and brainstem. Ayurvedic Aspect

The pashu chikitsa is a well-known approach for the management of our pets. Ayurvedic pashu chikitsa is a result of the knowledge and intellect of our ancient saints and sages. It shows a great companionship between humans and animals. GME in Ayurveda can be associated with vatavyadhi and ama dosha. The chief underlying cause is the vitiation of vata associated with aamdosha leads to kaphaj granthi (Granuloma) in Majja dhatu (CNS). Vata dosha is concerned with activities and motility in the body. The associated aamdosha leads to vitiating the dosha and causes dhatu dushti and is the basic cause of inflammation in the body due to excessive accumulation of Endotoxins. For better body status all the doshas should be in a balanced state. A beautiful quote is mentioned in Sushruta Samhita–

Susruta sutra sthana 15/41/…

Means – According to Acharya Susruta, a person is said to be swastha (Healthy) when doshas (Vata/pitta/kapha), agnis, dhatus, and mala should be in equilibrium along with mental, sensory, and spiritual calmness and happiness.
Ayurveda principles and herbs with minerals help to manage the status of GME in dogs.
