Hypothenar Eminence Fasiculations and Ayurvedic Treatment

ABSTRACT

The hypothenar muscles are three groups of powers of the palm which is twitching in muscles. The integrity of the human hand is one of the factors apart from other animals and primates. The movement plays a significant role in the evolution of humans. Neuromuscular disease is a disease that usually affects the nervous system, the neuromuscular junction, and the skeletal muscle. It can be acquired or genetic. It is caused by autoimmune disorders which are genetic disorders, they are progressive in nature and result in the weakness of muscles and fatigue. Muscles are the soft tissues and there are more than 600 muscles in the body. Some muscles voluntarily control the nervous system of the body and some muscles are involuntary and work automatically such as in the digestive system. The muscles play a very important role in every system and in various functions of the body which help in pumping blood, digesting food, and getting rid of waste. In this article, we are going to discuss hypothenar muscle causes and its symptoms with its ayurvedic aspect in detail.

Hypothenar Eminence Fasiculations

INTRODUCTION

The word thenar means fleshy mounds which are associated with two thenars, located on the palmar surface of the hand. These thenar mounds are known as thenar and hypothenar eminence, the thenar eminence is the fleshy mound at the base of the thumb and hypothenar eminence is located at the base of the fifth digit (little finger). The hypothenar eminence is made up of four muscles but three are the primary muscles- Four muscles are abductor digit, the minimi muscle, the flexor digit minimi brevis muscle, the opponents’ digit minimi muscle, and the palmaris brevis muscle. The thenar eminence is developed from the mesoderm and ectoderm germ layer, the mesenchymal tissue forms the blood vessel which perfuses the hypothenar eminence. Arterial injury to the ulnar artery affects HT eminence due to insufficient flow of the blood which leads to Hypothenar hammer syndrome (this condition tends to affect the individual who works with tools not able to grip and repetitively pounding the tools). Proximal compression of the nerves shows some symptomatic changes in resting and active presentation of the hand, due to a decrease in the sensation and feeling of needles and pins sensation. HT eminence indicates a C8 spinal root lesion.
