Ayurvedic overview

In Ayurveda, we can correlate Reiter’s syndrome with aagantuj vyadhi that means the disease which occurs by other external factors such as virus, air, water, soil, bacteria, injury by stick, weapon or stick, toxins and poison effect, etc. It leads to vitiation of pitta dosha that results in swelling and inflammation of the joint and further deranges the other dosha (Vata and Kapha) and develops signs and symptoms.

The management of this disease is fighting with infection and pacifying the vitiated dosha. Various herbal medicines are prepared such as rasraj ras, dashmoolarishta, erand pak, vatari guggulu, giloy ghan vati, amavatari ras, sanjivani vati, yogendra ras, ashwagandharishta, guduchi ghrita, amrit bhallataka etc. Panchakarma therapy is also very beneficial in this condition.
