Treatment of Slipped Disc in Ayurveda
Slipped Disc: Slipped disc is also known as a Prolapsed and herniated disc. The herniated disk is defined as a problem with one of the disks (rubbery cushions) that usually sit between the vertebrae (individual bones) that are connected with each other to make a spine. The human spinal column from the bottom to the top consists of fiver bones in the lumbar spine which is usually followed by the Coccyx and the Sacrum at the base, twelve in the Thoracic spine and seven in the cervical spine of the spinal column. All the bones of the spinal column are cushioned by the disks. These discs absorb the disk from different kinds of shocks that are caused due to normal activities of life such as Twisting, Walking as well as Lifting and protect the bones from different kinds of injuries.
Each and every disk is further divided into two different parts that are Tough Outer Ring and Gelatinous, Soft Inner Portion. Whenever any Injury or Weakness occurs to the spinal column, the inner part of the disc protrude through the Tough Outer part of the disc. This type of injury is called Herniated, Slipped or Prolapsed disc. If the Herniated disc compresses any spinal nerves, then the person may also experience pain, weakness, and numbness. In severe cases, the affected person may surgery to repair or remove the Prolapsed disk. In most people, there are no symptoms of herniated disk and surgery is not a necessary way to relieve the problem of slipped disc.
